I chose to too read chapter seven; Saying Why it Matters. I was just looking through the table of contents and this stood out to me because often times when I read someone’s essay I almost always end up asking myself why any of this matters. Most likely people probably say that when they read my papers. I am looking to avoid leaving unanswered questions, even with a good thesis and argument you need to identify the real-world consequences. The chapter focuses on the various moves you can make to answer the “who cares?” and “so what?” questions in your writing. They give a list of templates my personal favorite of them is the one that directly effects the questions asked “but who really cares?”.  you need to develop urgency in your agreement to increasingly raise the stakes of the matter. painting a picture of the future world and the worst possible outcome. to address the “so what?” you can go with a “this concerns anyone who cares about blank.” by saying that other people in the world care and should care it makes the reader somewhat obligated to care. the chapter goes on to what if people already know it matters? the last few pages basically says you don’t need to prove the importance of every single point in your writing. there will already be some people who care.
