“To regard beauty as a luxury adornment or a social signifier was to miss the true potential of the experience.” now what is Armstrong trying to say in this statement? I believe he’s trying to promote the idea if you think beauty is only available to those who can afford it then you are missing the purpose of beauty yourself. also if you only use beauty to further yourself socially then you are missing the point of beauty. I agree with this, I think this is about one of the only statements that I could decode and make any sense of it. the essay/article was just too confusing and I often lost track and found myself reading it over. as for how I see beauty as a moment in time that causes emotion. this moment can have something visually pleasing but most of the time causes emotion is something much deeper. often times acts of bravery, love, physicals feats etc can make you feel. this feeling does not have to be good to classify the moment as a moment of beauty. the feeling can be heartbreak or defeat and when you look back on it there is a beauty to those moments, not just the happy ones. moments of growth to me are also beautiful to me, constantly growing who we are. these are the views of my community because I try to surround myself with people that see these positive views.

Please make sure that you give the essay another readthrough. I agree that this essay can be a little confusing at first read. I love the role that memory plays in this free write.
