The comment I chose to “follow the thread” on was on page six “disappointed arts types might be able to console themselves with the thought that not even science is exempt from EA’s remorseless logic.” (Rhy Southan.). Throughout reading this article I found myself very frustrated with the point of views of the EA’s. Yes, I do believe in charities, but I don’t think that people should sacrifice their dreams. Although the EA’s think you should think you should stop chasing your dreams in order to do something more moral. It’s surprising to me and honestly makes the EA’s seem ignorant that they don’t believe science is a useful way to spend one’s life. I am working to be a scientist and the fact that the EA’s can not see that science is what even makes what they do possible amazes me. They talk about how they are the ones on their high horses helping those who live with curable diseases. Well, none other these diseases would even be curable without science and nor would any of the future diseases to come.  This also includes all vaccines in the world. Therefore to call science not a moral way of spending ones life to give back to those in need is foolish. Overall I’m not a fan of the EA’s and their thoughts on the world, but if they believe that they are doing what is right and are happy they have more figured out then most of us.

    Peter,
Your website is off to a good start. Take a minute to customize that header image. I know those are some pretty roller skates, but your own image will polish your blog off nicely. 🙂 I enjoyed reading your About Me page. I appreciate your attitude toward learning and hard work, and I have appreciated your presence in the classroom. I think your experience in college will serve you well in ENG 110!

I LOVE that you picked up on this quote: “disappointed arts types might be able to console themselves with the thought that not even science is exempt from EA’s remorseless logic.” (Rhy Southan.). I think this is a SUPER interesting thread to follow. So many of science’s major discoveries are unintentional and/or accumulative. For example, I was just listening to an interview with Neil Degrasse Tyson and he explained that the science leading to the MRI began with a scientist that was not associated with medicine at all.

Continue to push those comments in the margins. Strong annotations pay off a thousandfold. You will not only retain more (and more easily find things to write about) but you will also find the text much more easily references as you begin to draft your paper.
