What do I have to say about art? Well its certainly not a waste of time in the slightest. The world would not be what it is today without it. How do I know this, well there are more inventions inspired by music and more changed minds, more courage, determination, and just emotion in general influenced by art than anything else. No, the art may not effect those in need immediately or directly, but in one way or another it has has influence on everyone. After my brainstorm between “why art is a waste of time” and Urhahn’s ted talk I concluded art is actually everywhere. In Southans essay the EA’s ask weather or not the screenplay Southan was writing was the best of all time? I don’t think the answer really matters, if its the best screen play of all time the EA’s still will justify there cause over the importance of art. This is where the EA’s are wrong. Art, including painting, music, movies, any entertainment and all crazy forms of it is to bring people together. The best example of this is perhaps Dre Urhahn’s projects painting rough neighborhoods. After a few years after the initial painting project in the favela of Rio, the people in the favela have come together on there own to finish painting there city. An entire neighborhood has come together to better its-self and that to me is much more significant of an impact compared to lets say if Dre Urhahn became an EA’s. I believe this is why art and artist are important, they connect us and bring us together.
